Stefano Firpo

Stefano Firpo is Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development from December 2011. He graduated in Political Science from the University of Turin in 1998, and, afterwards, obtained a Master in Economics from the same university and a Master in Global Markets from the London School of Economics.
From June 2001 to March 2002 he was External Consultant in the Department of International and European Relations at the European Central Bank. From February 2003 to October 2003 he was Professor of Economics of Financial Intermediary at the University of Piemonte Orientale in Alessandria. From June 2002 to end 2005 he was a member of the Working Group on Capital Adequacy of the Institute of International Finance (Washington – USA), during which he supervised the negotiation of the Basilea II Agreements. From March 2002 to September 2004 he was a member of the Valuation and Risk Management Team at SanPaolo Imi Bank. From September 2004 to January 2007 he was Head of the Presidency Secretariat  at SanPaolo Imi Bank. From March 2007 to January 2009 he was a member of the CEO’s staff of Intesa SanPaolo Bank. From February 2009 to November 2011 he was Head of the CEO’s staff of Intesa SanPaolo Bank.
